# Power steering pump test pressure (2001–2003 NB2, non-turbo)

Canonical URL: https://miatatorque.com/spec/power-steering-pump-test-pressure-nb2/

Applicability: NB 2001–2003 (BP-Z3) — Actual 2003 factory specification corroborated by early NB2 publication 1719-1U-01G. 2001–2002 inferred, not factory-year verified. Actual 2004–2005 higher-pressure specifications are separate.

Confidence: fsm

7,846—8,335 kPa {80—85 kgf/cm², 1,138—1,208 psi}

Always confirm against your factory manual. Match every restriction and follow all stages and procedure notes. Disputed claims must not be automatically resolved. The complete record below preserves every printed unit, source claim and procedure.

Fully close the valve and measure pump pressure at 1,000—1,500 rpm. Do not leave the valve closed for more than 5 seconds; excessive fluid heat damages the pump. Follow the complete factory procedure to disconnect the gauge, restore the pipe and bleed air. The early NB2 factory publication corroborates this lower range. Do not substitute the higher actual 2004–2005 range."
