Version 1 envelope

schema_version is 1. The bulk response has site, license, units, systems, jobs, sources (document catalog) and specs. Optional record fields are omitted when absent.

Record fieldMeaning
id, name, aliasesStable identifier, display name and search synonyms.
system, component, componentName, jobsSystem/component ids, component display name and job ids.
urlAbsolute canonical HTML URL to cite.
applies_toArray of rules joined by OR. Within a rule all restrictions must match: gen, inclusive years, engines, trans, diff, abs, built_from/built_to (YYYY-MM) and explanatory note. A missing restriction does not limit that dimension.
kind, torque, value_textTorque records have printed-unit ranges; non-torque records use value_text. Every range is [min, max], including [x, x] for a single value.
stagesOrdered steps with step number, optional torque, angle_deg and note. Perform the whole sequence; the last torque is not a substitute for the procedure.
fastener, procedureThread, socket and quantity; threadlocker, sealant, lubrication, replacement, sequence and notes. Preserve these with the value.
confidencefsm, consensus, single-source or disputed. A disputed record requires review of every source claim; do not automatically resolve it.
sources[]Each claim retains source id, printed page, as_printed, torque/stages and note. Its document contains id, title, tier, part_number, covers, URL and note. Optional fields may be absent. covers describes the cited manual’s coverage, which can be narrower than applicability.

Units and safe use

nm = N·m, kgfm = kgf·m, kgfcm = kgf·cm, ftlb = ft·lb, inlb = in·lb. JSON includes only units the source printed; HTML marks conversions with ≈. Inch-pounds and foot-pounds differ by a factor of 12. Never fill missing units by assuming a number’s meaning.

Landing pages include possible equipment variants. Match all restrictions for the actual car, review confidence and document coverage, follow every stage and procedure, and confirm against the factory manual before working on a car.

Stability and citation

Version 1 field meanings will remain stable. Additive optional fields and factual corrections can appear without a version bump; breaking changes will increment schema_version. Spec ids are intended to remain stable; corrections may retire or split records. Consumers should tolerate absent optional fields, unknown future fields and removed ids, and refresh data rather than treating cached values as permanent.

Cite “Miata Torque DB, A/C pipe bracket bolt (to radiator),” link to its canonical spec page, and include the source document title, printed page, printed text and retrieval date. Preserve warnings, applicability and procedures when quoting.
