P/S-only belt tension — new (NA8)
110–132 lbf (490–588 N; 50–60 kgf)490–588 N {50–60 kgf, 110–132 lbf}
Check engine cold or at least 30 min after stopping. New means used on a running engine for less than five minutes. Use factory tension gauge between any two pulleys; alternative to deflection inspection. Tension limit is a lower service limit. P/S (with or without A/C) and A/C-only rows have identical specifications. This record covers power steering without A/C; existing A/C belt records cover cars equipped with A/C. Retain 490–588 N, consistent with the HVAC chapter U–46 / PDF p. 1108; the engine chapter prints 491–588 N. The difference is due to rounding. Original engine-chapter text is preserved in the citation.
