Compression pressure — standard (NB2 non-turbo)
1,198 psi (363 kPa; 13.9 kgf/cm²) at 300 rpm1,363 kPa {13.9 kgf/cm², 198 psi} at 300 rpm
Fully charged battery. Warm engine to normal operating temperature, stop and allow to cool about 10 min. Perform factory fuel-line safety procedure and leave fuel-pump relay removed, remove all spark plugs, and disconnect ignition-coil connector. Fully depress accelerator while cranking and record maximum gauge reading for every cylinder. Reference test speed 300 rpm. Use 1363 kPa for naturally aspirated NB2 and 1442 kPa for turbo; prefer the engine-specific compression procedure over the conflicting early technical table.
