Procedure
Zero the factory gauge on its reference surface plate. With the specified pinion-height SST installed, measure the lowest left and right carrier side-bearing seating positions and average the two readings. This is the nominal factory fixture reading, not a physical zero pinion depth. Select the spacer closest to the required correction; consult the complete cited setup procedure.
Applies to
- NA 1990–1993 (B6) — Actual 1990 factory evidence; other years in the approved family inferred with owner approval.
- Verified in: 1990 Mazda MX-5 Miata Workshop Manual
