Power steering gear housing test pressure (2001–2003 NB2, non-turbo)

7,846—8,208 psi (335 kPa; 80—85 kgf/cm², 1,138—1)7,846—8,335 kPa {80—85 kgf/cm², 1,138—1,208 psi}

Factory manualTaken from a Mazda factory workshop manual, with page citation.
Procedure

Connect factory pressure-gauge SSTs and bleed air; warm fluid to 50—60°C {122—140°F}. Open the gauge valve fully; at 1,000—1,500 rpm turn fully left and right and measure pressure. Do not hold the steering fully turned for more than 5 seconds; excessive fluid heat damages the pump. Repair or replace the gear housing if out of specification; follow the complete factory gauge removal and bleeding procedure. The early NB2 factory publication corroborates this lower range. Do not substitute the higher actual 2004–2005 range.
