Factory manualTaken from a Mazda factory workshop manual, with page citation.
Procedure

Warm engine to normal operating temperature with fully charged battery. Begin with MT in Neutral or AT in P, electrical loads off, and cooling fan stopped. Read RPM PID using factory-compatible diagnostic equipment. Read after the temporary speed drop when loads are first switched on. Check electrical loads (headlights, blower above first position, cooling fan and rear defroster on), power steering (fully turned), and A/C (A/C and blower on) separately. Use D for this record; follow the complete factory procedure for stationary Drive-range inspection.
