Procedure
After installing the mainshaft rear bearing, C-washers, retaining ring and washer, secure with a new snap ring. Verify no clearance between rear bearing and C-washers. Measure between C-washers and washer, then select proper C-washers to set this clearance. Do not substitute the separate fifth-gear end-play specification.
Applies to
- NA 1990–1993 (B6, 5MT) — 1991–1993 inferred from 1990 factory evidence; actual-year verification is separate.
